"Holidays"

To say that the past week and a half have been challenging would be an understatement.

I've never really been the healthiest human on the planet, I've always been plagued with stomach problems, but recently it just got worse.

I woke up on the last day of school feeling horrible. Sore throat, lethargy and a runny nose. Textbook cold symptoms. I treated it & it seemed to go away.

Last Tuesday, I began working on my resources for the next term. I worked from 8am-7pm making literacy games and programming units of work. I was exhausted both physically and mentally.

I developed a migraine and thought that eating a meal would help. It didn't. I spent the night feeling sick & nauseous. After hours and hours of being sick, having a headache & sleeping I was exhausted and my throat and body ached like I'd never experienced before.

Gideon came home from work & was unsettled by the sight. We rushed to the doctor & he said that I was dehydrated, had a fever of 38 degrees & had *possible* appendicitis. Without taking any chances we rushed to the hospital. I had never been for my own health so I was extremely nervous.

Tests were done & they admitted me into a bed.

After being treated for 3 hours with IV drips in my hand, I was discharged. No appendicitis but the doc concluded with severe food poisoning/gastro.

I felt like crap but we went home & I went to sleep. In the morning (Friday) I made the stupid decision to go to the Easter show having not eaten for 48 hours prior. It was hell. We walked and walked, I nearly fainted at one point until we found some stomach-friendly food for me to eat.

After the nightmare train ride home, we got home and I started getting itchy. Really itchy. G thought it was an allergy from the baby animals but I thought it was something a lot more sinister. I developed a huge rash on my face, hands and feet which were excruciatingly painful and itchy.

After a shower, panadol and cortizone cream I managed to sleep. In the morning the rash was flaring up more and we thought enough was enough. We went to the doctors again and I was prescribed anti-biotics and calamine lotion.

It worked. THANK GOODNESS. I had a lot of anxiety getting so sick. Having a red rash on my face made a dent in my self confidence as I looked like I had a disease. Stares from people made it pretty certain that it was really strange looking.

I would not have been able to deal with all of this if it wasn't for Gideon, honestly. That guy is amazing & he deserves a medal for being 'the most awesome husband of the year'. He also got sick after thanks to me so... I've been his nurse now too, haha.

I really hope your holiday (Easter, ANZAC Day) season was better than mine!

Bye.
